My tap is dripping or leaking - how do I fix it?
Dripping or leaking taps are generally caused by one of two things: either the cartridge or the O-ring/seal needs replacing.
If the leak is at the base of the spout, this is most likely caused by the O-ring. Check that there is no debris or limescale obstructing the O-ring from being able to create a complete seal. If the O-ring has worn or perished, a replacement can be purchased from our spares website.
If your tap is dripping or overrunning, this would typically indicate debris between the ceramic discs of the internal cartridge. Performing regular maintenance on your cartridge, this can easily resolve this issue. If you need to replace the cartridge, follow the steps below:
- Close the isolation valves, then turn the tap on to let any water drain
- Pry off the decorative cap covering the hex screw, then use an Allen key to loosen and remove the handle
- Use an adjustable spanner to unscrew the retaining nut
- Remove the old cartridge
- Insert the new cartridge, ensuring it is correctly aligned
- Reassemble the tap by reversing the steps above.

- The valve seat may be scratched, although this is rare in ceramic taps
