Troubleshooting

The diverter on my shower valve isn't switching water between outlets - what can I do?

The diverter on your shower valve controls which outlet the water flows from. If the diverter is stuck between two settings, you have water flowing from multiple outlets at once, or there is a reduced flow from one outlet, the diverter cartridge may need cleaning or replacing. The following steps can help to resolve the issue:

  1. Turn off the water supply.
  2. Remove the handles and trim plate, and extract the diverter cartridge. Instructions for your product can be found by searching for the relevant product on our website and navigating to the ‘Downloads’ tab on the product page.
  3. Check the cartridge for any scale or debris buildup.
  4. Soak any parts with limescale in descaler, such as white vinegar, for 30 minutes and then wash through with water.
  5. Return the diverter cartridge to the valve and replace the handles and trim kit.
  6. Reassemble and test by switching between outlets.

If the issue persists or the diverter cartridge appears worn or cracked, you may need to replace the cartridge. Replacement cartridges can be purchased from our spares website.

DO NOT force a stiff diverter. Doing so may damage the internal spindle.
