Care & Maintenance

How do I replace or service the diverter valve on a bath shower mixer?

The diverter on your bath shower mixer controls whether water flows from the spout of the shower handset. Blockages or seal wear can stop it from switching correctly. If you are experiencing water flowing from both the spout and handset, the diverter is stuck between positions, or reduced pressure from either outlet, the following steps can help to resolve this issue:

  1. Turn off the water supply
  2. Remove the diverter lever
  3. Unscrew and remove the diverter cartridge or spindle assembly
  4. Clean internal components and lubricate with silicone grease
  5. Replace work parts or install a new diverter
  6. Reassemble and test the water flow direction

For maintenance instructions specific to your model, please refer to the diverter section of the instruction manual supplied with your bath shower mixer.
